As part of its corporate social responsibility strategy and support for the academic community, METRICA donated a fully equipped geospatial data processing system (WorkStation) to meet the data processing needs of the Remote Sensing Laboratory at the Department of Geology & Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
The new system is expected to significantly enhance the Laboratory’s research and educational activities, supporting the processing of high-resolution geospatial data and advanced remote sensing applications, including unmanned aerial systems (UAS), terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) systems, as well as studies of natural processes and geohazards such as landslides, rockfalls, erosion, and multitemporal analyses.
This initiative is particularly significant during a period of infrastructure modernization and upgrade, contributing substantially to the improvement of scientific research quality and university education. At the same time, it strengthens the connection between the business community and Greek universities, actively investing in the next generation of scientists in geoinformatics and remote sensing.
