HxGN SmartNet Network
No1 reference station network in Greece with more than 1800 active users.
HxGN SmartNet guarantees quality, accuracy and productivity in the field, at the lowest possible cost, time and effort
HxGN SmartNet is a GNSS correction service powered by the world’s largest network of reference stations. It allows GNSS-enabled devices to determine positions quickly and with 1–2 cm accuracy. The service operates 24/7 on a high-availability infrastructure and is supported by an experienced team with over 10 years of experience delivering reliable positioning services.
Innovations
HxGN SmartNet is the first private reference station network, which provides the ability of using satellite constellation Beidou & Galileo, throughout the entire Greek territory with accuracy RTK – NRTK (1 – 3 cm 3D).
It is suitable for all users of geodetic GNSS receivers, regardless of manufacturer, and significantly increases productivity. (For RTK subscriptions, receivers must support the GPRS – NTRIP protocol.)

Νο1 Network in Greece.
The network is certified annually by a research team from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and is trusted by universities, public authorities and private organizations in Greece and internationally.
By integrating innovative technologies, continuously improving its products and services, and relying on a highly specialized team, the HxGN SmartNet network has become the preferred choice for professionals across multiple industries.
HxGN SmartNet is the only network that undergoes annual processing and verification by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, ensuring maximum accuracy and coordinate alignment with the HEPOS reference system within 4 millimeters.
- Thanks to the agreement with Leica Geosystems and SmartNet Europe, HxGN SmartNet is integrated into their international network, benefiting from continuous monitoring, technical support, full access to new software versions and the latest technological developments.
- Collaboration with the HxGN SmartNet reference station network in Bulgaria for the exchange of correction data.
- National Observatory of Athens – Data exchange and network control. The stations PONT, PRVK, LEMN, KASI and VLSM belong to the National Observatory of Athens and have been integrated into the HxGN SmartNet network through a cooperation agreement. Additionally, in collaboration with the Academy of Athens, the stations KRPS, NEAB and SKYR have been installed. These receivers are part of the HxGN SmartNet network and are hosted at sites selected by the National Observatory of Athens, which also provides their hosting and telemetry.
- Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – Continuous monitoring of the reference stations, development of a unified transformation model and annual certification of the network.
- Data from the HxGN SmartNet network are officially provided to the University of Nevada and the University of Arizona for research on the development of global seismic models, as well as to the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia in Bologna, Italy.
- HxGN SmartNet network data are provided for educational and research purposes to the University of Patras (Department of Geology), the Research Institute of Geodesy, Topography and Cartography and the Pecný Observatory, as well as to Charles University in Prague (Department of Geophysics). These collaborations have also led to the integration of three new reference stations in the Agrinio–Messolonghi region within the HxGN SmartNet network.
Leica Geosystems has advanced PPP technology by allowing its receivers to maintain the RTK solution for up to 10 minutes even during an internet connection loss — a capability known as RTK Bridging. This feature is delivered through the HxGN SmartNet network, providing major operational advantages for users in the field.
Initialization time is almost eliminated, as the receiver requires only 5 minutes during the initial setup to activate the function.
In the event of an internet interruption at the receiver, the solution is maintained for up to 10 minutes with horizontal accuracy better than 2.5 cm.
Most importantly, the service is offered completely FREE to HxGN SmartNet subscribers with an unlimited Full GNSS subscription and compatible receivers running Leica Captivate.
Leica GS07 | Leica GS16 | Leica GS18T | Leica GS18i
The new service, HxGN SmartNet+, is one of the three services of the HxGN SmartNet Global family and is now available exclusively through the HxGN SmartNet network for Leica receivers.
